Ellis Education was founded in 2011 by Ellis Rankin, an international educator returning from a lengthy overseas sojourn in a variety of teaching positions. After years in colleges, universities and secondary schools in South America and South East Asia, Ellis Rankin believed that there was a place for individual and small group assistance for students attempting to do well in mainstream education. Having worked in five different curricula worldwide (American, International Baccalaureate, Malaysian, Cambridge/London GCSE/ A Level and Scottish) and having developed materials and courses, she was confident in her abilities to find or make resources to suit individual needs. Also with a background in Additional Needs (previously referred to as Special Needs or Remediation Requirements) Ellis understood that differentiation is often not present or is poorly done in schools and that students sometimes need a different approach to teaching, one which connects to their own learning style. The decision to establish an agency offering a variety of services which are in short supply seemed an obvious one. In 2011, after starting with individual tuition, Ellis branched out into a number of areas of provision – as seen in the list of services on this homepage. The agency continues to grow and develop.
